Ms. Vermillion and her co-counsel obtained a defense verdict in a medical malpractice case against several health care professionals and health care practice groups in Independence, Missouri. After a month-long trial, the jury found that the doctors, nurses and practice groups had not acted negligently or recklessly in treating an 18-year-old man who died during emergency surgery after an auto accident. According to Missouri Lawyers Weekly, it was the third largest defense verdict obtained in Missouri in 2006.
